TILT by CD & TILT Plus 2001

In 2001 the Penrith District will be offering TILT by CD and TILT Plus courses for the first time.

The offering of the various courses available is dependant on the technology needs of individual schools within the District

The TILT program is part of the Computers in Schools Program.

It is envisaged that a schools role would be to:

·Promote access to the technology resources provided under the Computers in Schools Program;

·Manage the school’s use of technology;

·Plan for staff training needs 2001 – 2003

·Select staff members to undertake the TILT by CD and TILT Plus programs and

·Support staff members involved in the programs

TILT has been re-designed as an interactive CD-Rom, including videos as well as workshop materials and resources.

Up to 10 000 more teachers will be trained through this expanded TILT by CD program between now and 2003.

TILT Plus covers a range of programs to train up to 15 000 teachers in advanced  nd specialised computer skills related to learning and teaching, administration and leadership. Completion of a program or a combination of programs, which total 50 hours can lead to certification which will give participants advanced standing in some Master’s Degree programs.

To assist in the provision of courses, staff members are encouraged to complete a Skills audit survey sheet. Samples of these are provided for the teaching staff, as well as SASS staff. It would be appreciated ifthe completion of these skill audits could be done during the staff development day Term 1 2001. They will be vital to the successful planning of staff training in technology during the aforementioned training period.

These skills audits are to be retained by the school. The results of these audits will be collated and matched to topic areas offered in the TILT program, after the Principals Briefing document has been delivered to your school and a walk through of the document has been presented at the first principals meeting for 2001.
