Well done to all the teachers for their great efforts!

The districts’ 2 year VET training and development plan has been developed and will be sent to schools this term to be incorporated in school management and future direction. Thanks very much to the help and talents of Geoff Forward – Winmalee High School and Leiza Lewis – Jamison High School.

Vet Support funds have been allocated to schools and cheques should be arriving into schools soon. Thank you to all VET coordinators and teachers for the efforts that were placed into developing projects. Please ensure that the funds are spent or committed before December 31 2001. Projects were also submitted for accessing consortium funds: Promoting VET to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Cambridge Park, Katoomba and Springwood High Schools submitted projects and funding will be in these schools shortly to support these initiatives. Thanks to Anne Acret, Helen Kerrigan, Charmaine Carrington and Robyn Asboth for their efforts.

The Quality Teacher Program is offering professional development opportunities for VET teachers. The program is designed to help teachers develop and implement new pedagogies, enhance the quality of teaching and learning, and as a result, improve student learning outcomes. The selection criteria is quite specific and copies of these as well as the application forms have been sent to schools. I can send more out if required so don’t hesitate to contact me if they are needed. Deadlines for applications need to be received by:-

  • 16th November for Activities in Term 4 2001 or the summer holiday period

A big thank you to staff for entering VET competencies on the Board of Studies website. Some schools experienced technological difficulties but everyone has met the deadlines for data entry.

Thanks for the support that I have received this last term.

Yours in VET
